The 340 guestrooms, redone in new warm-toned drapes and furnishings in 2001, include 60-channel TVs, Internet access, three telephones, robes, and CD players. Sliding doors open to private balconies. A glass atrium lobby contains 45-foot palms and fabric draped from the ceiling. A signature restaurant offers outdoor seating and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean from the fireside lounge.

Driving directions from Los Angeles International Airport: Follow signs to take the SR 1 ramp onto N Sepulveda Blvd. Bear left onto Lincoln Blvd and go about 6.5 miles. Turn left on W Pico Blvd, then right on Ocean Ave. Getting there: The best option from the airport is a shuttle ($16–$25), or a rental car. Getting around: Santa Monica is a pedestrian-freindly community, and there are several shops, restaurants, and attractions within a short walk of the hotel. A community shuttle (less than $5) loops through Santa Monica and is a convenient way to reach other areas of town. Tours can be arranged to attractions in LA, or guests may prefer to rent a car.

The numerous private seating nooks are furnished with soft sofas and chenille chairs. Striking rows of palm trees end at the oceanfront lounge.
